Chase Bays Dual Pass Oil Cooler Kit for EZ30 / EZ36 into 86 / BRZ [ZN6]
After a year of hard work and testing, we're ready to release our EZ30 / EZ36 into ZN6 / 86 / BRZ Engine Swap Kit! We have already produced many of the components, however we want to pre-order 10 qty of the full kits and some of the components to confirm the hype is real and get some of the harder to produce items going. We've had a good bit of requests for individual components like our electronics package, cooling setup, and header...as much as we want to sell everything together so we know it's done right, we will have these items for sell on their own.
Again; we don't know volume. So we are functioning as a pre-order. Once we hit 10 qty it will take 6-8 weeks to complete and ship this. We will have the count below this text with dates to show how many we've pre-sold.
Significant cooling capacity. More coverage across the front. Optional fan-assisted airflow when vehicle speed alone isn’t enough. Your oil will indeed be cooled!
The Chase Bays V2 Oil Cooler Kit is a substantial upgrade for keeping oil temperatures under control in your EZ-powered ZN6. Drifting sideways, following another car in tandem, working through slower corners or behind traffic on track / during a race, or stopped in actual traffic on the street can all limit airflow through the cooler. We designed this kit around those conditions because that’s where we drive our cars, too.
In our testing, we saw average oil temperature reductions of 30–50°F over 30 laps. Results will vary with ambient temperature, vehicle setup, airflow, and driving conditions. But this kit does indeed work.
A MASSIVE Upgrade in Cooling Capacity
Our V1 used a 19-row, single-pass cooler rated at 27,000 BTU/hr. V2 moves to a wider, dual-pass bar-and-plate core rated at 44,600 BTU/hr. A 65% increase in rated heat rejection.
| Core specification | V1 | V2 |
|---|---|---|
| Design | Single-pass, 19-row | Dual-pass, bar-and-plate |
| Core dimensions | 11.25" × 5.75" × 1.5" | 18.5" × 5.5" × 1.58" |
| Rated heat rejection | 27,000 BTU/hr | 44,600 BTU/hr |
V2 measures 21.4 inches wide overall. Its broad, low-profile shape provides more frontal exposure while leaving room to package other cooling components. The dual-pass layout routes oil through two sections of the core before returning it to the engine.
Optional Dual-Fan Shroud: Still Cooling When Airflow Drops.
The optional shroud upgrade adds two fans rated at 342 CFM each, 684cfm total providing forced airflow equivalent of around 15mph when the car is stationary or moving slowly.
The biggest benefit of the Fans and Shroud come when you need cooling but don’t have a clean stream of air reaching the front of the car. Think staging lanes, slow cooldowns, tight corners, and tandem runs.
| Estimated heat rejection* | Without fans | With dual fans |
|---|---|---|
| Stationary / 0 mph | 2,500 BTU/hr | 13,500 BTU/hr |
| 15 mph | 14,700 BTU/hr | 24,000 BTU/hr |
Estimated figures for the stated airflow conditions. Actual heat rejection depends on performance of water cooling, oil temperature, ambient temperature, oil flow, and installation. Maximum core ratings and these operating estimates represent different conditions.
Mounting Designed for Cars that are USED
The stainless steel brackets provide rigidity while allowing controlled movement to reduce stress on the cooler housing. The assembly mounts ahead of the radiator using the four M6 flanges used for the A/C condenser. A/C can be retained with the oil cooler, but the optional fan shroud and fans cannot be used with the A/C condenser installed.
For turbo builds, the brackets can be flipped, allowing a higher oil cooler position above an intercooler where space permits. Alternatively, an intercooler can be packaged above the oil cooler. On our turbo EZ build, we used a Garrett 703520-6010 core with THESE end tanks for perfect packaging. Intercooler clearance depends on your specific configuration and piping.
Complete Plumbing. Pressure Tested In-House.
The kit includes Chase Bays 10AN Nylon Hose and black Hose Ends with gold crimp collars. Every hose assembly is pressure tested in-house to 350 psi...well beyond the intended operating pressure of this system.
The included Chase Bays Oil Sandwich Cooler Adapter with a 180°F thermostat manages flow to the cooler to support oil warm-up before full cooling is needed.
You get the cooler, mounting brackets, hose assemblies, thermostatic sandwich adapter, and installation hardware in one complete package. The dual-fan shroud with 684cfm's of cooling power.
Built to Be Driven Hard
For the sustained track and drift use this swap is designed around, we consider an external oil cooler essential. This kit adds oil capacity and helps manage the heat that builds during repeated hard laps.
We’re builders and drivers. We think about mounting stress, hose routing, airflow, and service access because we deal with those same challenges ourselves. The goal is simple: solve those problems during development so you can spend more time driving.
